Great leaflet design will make all the difference in the end.
Getting the right information to your potential customers is key to the success of your business.
It’s not always easy to build and design the ‘perfect’ leaflet, but we’re here to help and give you some pointers which we know work.
Before, you start to think about content, there a few questions that need to be answered
What are you hoping to achieve from the leaflet?
What do you want to promote? (event, grand opening, special offer etc)
Where do you want your leaflets distributed?
Now, you are ready to decide on the leaflet itself
Gloss, Matte or Recycled?
That is the question. They offer very different finishes and it all boils down to personal preference.
With Gloss; the leaflet will have a bolder richness of colours with a shiny/reflective finish and will grab the attention of potential customers.
With Matte; the leaflet will be lighter and offers a more sophisticated overall look. It will have a great finish with a subtle effect.
With Recycled; the leaflet has a more natural feel, the colours are lighter and it is of course made from 100% recycled materials
Leaflet Weights
When deciding on the weight of you leaflet, you will come across an abbreviation GSM, this stands for Grams per Square Metre 🤷♂️
Standard printer paper that you have a home would have a gsm of 80-100
Other stationary items such at letterheads usually have a weight of 110-120gsm
A standard thin leaflet, usually the ones takeaways use would fall into the 130gsm category
We always recommend leaflets to be printed on 150gsm or 170gsm paper.
Leaflet Size
Size matters!
A7 - 105 x 74mm
A6 - 148 x 105 mm
A5 - 210 x 14 mm
Amount of Leaflets
This can literally range from 100 - as many as you want!
If you answered the question above: Where do you want your leaflets distributed?
You will have an idea of how many houses there are and therefore how many leaflets you need.
The more you order, the better deal you get!
Now, let's begin designing.
FIRST OFF.....
👊 MAKE IT STAND OUT 👌
The first thing you want to do is grab people’s attention , make them look at your leaflet no matter what.
This can be achieved through many different channels, here’s some to give you an idea: LARGE & Colourful fonts, a snappy/bold headline or title, colourful graphics/imagery, a limited time offer or a free gift
Do not use too many fonts as it can look muddled and be careful when using calligraphy text as some are difficult to read

HIGH QUALITY IMAGES
A professional design means, a good first impression.
I’ve had leaflets in the past that have been very highly pixelated and you can barely see the image, it’s not a good look at all, but on the other hand, thankfully; the majority of leaflets we deliver are of very good quality.
It’s literally the difference between somebody picking up the phone or not.
Imagine if you saw a bad quality leaflet land on your doorstep, you would just assume the service / product they provide was also bad.
Professional photos for your business can be a great investment

KEEPING THEIR INTEREST
You’ve done it, they’re reading your leaflet!
The next step is to make sure they keep reading...
Don’t overload them with information, make sure the message you are sending is clear and concise.
Provide ONLY the necessary information to drive sales and enquiries
Entice the customers to make the next step with a clear Call to Action 📞
TITLE ~ RELEVANT INFORMATION ~ HIGH QUALITY IMAGE ~ CALL TO ACTION
📢 CALL TO ACTION 📢
Possibly, the most important part of the leaflet. The way the customers can contact you.
There's no point having a little phone number or email address hidden away in the corner, you need to make sure it can be seen easily and we believe offering both options is best.
Another great Call to Action is of course social media, so if you simply add a logo onto your leaflet, it gives the customer the option to check you out online
